Gerhard Funk, born in 1958, studied Mathematics and Art Education in Linz and received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science.
As a high school teacher he taught art education, mathematics and informatics.
In parallel he worked as researcher at RISC Linz (Research Institute for Symbolic Computation).
In 1993 he transferred to the University of Art Linz. Since 2004 he is a full professor and the head of the bachelor’s degree program “Time-based and Interactive Media” that he has conceptualized.
In recent years he developed the concept of Cooperative Aesthetics for the Deep Space of the Ars Electronica Center Linz.
On DA Fest Gerhard Funk will make presentation on Cooperative Aesthetics, on 23 October, fom 14:00 h, at the Goethe Institute - Conference room
The visitors ca also see his art work Expanding Lines - generative, endless animation with horizontal and vertical lines based on a regular square grid.
